We only saw this place because we accidentally drove past it. We did some Trip Advisor research and were so impressed! We showed up a few minutes before the top of the hour and they accommodated us nicely. We instantly felt like they were welcoming us into their family. They proudly shared their Mayan chocolate making process and how the ancient people’s discovered scientific processes on accident that we still use today. I am an avid chocolate consumer and the chocolate being ethically sourced means a lot to me. Being able to talk to a family of farmers in the cacao belt was incredible. As much research as I have previously done, I still learned more. We took home some nibs and are excited to try new recipes.

We thoroughly enjoyed the demonstration here today. It was fascinating to learn about how the ancient Maya produced their religious chocolate drink. We tasted cacao and chocolate at different stages. We even got given some chocolate paste to take away to make our own afterwards. If you’re a fan of dark chocolate, you’ll love this place!

This was an awesome experience. The main guy gave us a super interesting lesson on mayan chocolate – which really included information on history, sociology, chemistry, gastronomy, religion and more. You learn all about how the mayans came to make chocolate, starting with harvesting the cacao fruit all the way to more modern chocolate implementations. There’s a small hands-on component, too, and you get to try things along the way. definitely a good time!

If you love food and/or chocolate, then this is a unique experience! We got to see up-close how chocolate was made by the Mayan centuries ago. You can even grind up some chocolate nibs yourself! It was definitely a lot of fun!

This demonstration was fantastic! The history of chocolate and it’s relation to Mayan culture was very interesting. During many Mayan ruins tours we heard about the chocolate drink consumed so it was neat to experience it ourselves. Don’t go expecting Hershey’s or Cadburys chocolate, this is the natural unprocessed dark chocolate. Very delicious!
